Terms of service.
Updated 16 September 2026. These terms are the agreement between you and PRIVACYPORTAL LTD for Barz. They are written to be read, not to be skipped. If anything here is unclear, email welcome@barz.cc and we will explain it.
1. Who you are contracting with
Barz is supplied by PRIVACYPORTAL LTD, trading as PrivacyPortal, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 14907634, registered office 16 Commerce Square, Nottingham, England, NG1 1HS. In these terms “we”, “us” and “our” mean that company, and “Barz” means the Barz VST3 plugin, this website and the Barz account and activation service together. You can reach us at welcome@barz.cc.
2. Accepting these terms
You accept these terms when you create a Barz account. If you do not accept them, do not create an account. You must be at least 16 years old to hold an account. If you are using Barz for a business, you confirm you are allowed to accept these terms for that business; the consumer rights described below then may not apply to you.
3. Your account
Give a working email address, choose a password of at least 12 characters and keep it to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Barz can be activated on up to three computers at a time; removing a computer signs it out within about a minute. Do not share your account, your password or an activation code, and do not try to work around the licence check. Tell us straight away at welcome@barz.cc if you think someone else has your details.
4. What you may do with Barz
While your trial or membership is active we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Barz on up to three computers you control, to make music. We keep all ownership of the software. You may not resell, rent, sublicence or redistribute Barz, remove its notices, or reverse engineer it except to the extent the law says you may. Music you make with Barz is yours, subject to the beat licensing point in section 8.
5. The 30-day trial
The trial lasts 30 days and costs nothing. A payment card is required to start it, and Stripe saves that card, but no payment is taken and no charge is scheduled. Nothing renews by itself. We email you before the trial ends and again when it ends. If you do nothing, Barz simply locks on day 30 and you are not charged. You may start one trial; we check for repeat trials as described in our privacy notice.
6. Plans, prices and payment
After a trial you may choose one of these plans. Prices are in pounds sterling and are the full amount you pay for the period shown.
- Monthly — £4.99 per month. Renews every month until you cancel.
- Yearly — £49.95 per year. Renews every year until you cancel.
- Lifetime — £79.99 once. A single payment for access for as long as we operate the Barz service. This plan does not renew and will never charge you again.
Payments are processed by Stripe on our behalf. We never see or store your full card number. Your receipt and your card or bank statement will show PRIVACYPORTAL LTD, not Barz, because that is the company you are buying from. You authorise a charge only when you choose a plan and confirm it at checkout; Stripe shows the amount and the first payment date before you confirm.
If we change the price of a renewing plan we will email you at least 30 days before the change takes effect, and you can cancel before then. If a renewal payment fails, Stripe may retry it; if it keeps failing your access pauses until the payment succeeds or you cancel.
7. Cancelling, changing your mind and refunds
You can cancel at any time from your account, and your access continues to the end of the period you have already paid for. You also have a 14-day right to change your mind about any paid plan, and we honour it whether or not you have used Barz in that time. The full detail, including how to ask and how long a refund takes, is in our refunds and cancellation policy, which forms part of these terms.
8. Other people’s services and other people’s beats
Barz shows you YouTube, SoundCloud and BeatStars inside FL Studio. Those services are run by other companies, under their own terms and privacy policies, and they can change or withdraw access at any time. Finding or loading a beat through Barz does not give you permission to release music made with it: you still need the producer’s licence or permission. BPM and key readings are estimates and should be checked against the producer’s own information. Barz is independent software and is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Image-Line (FL Studio), YouTube, SoundCloud or BeatStars.
9. Availability, changes and support
We will supply Barz with reasonable care and skill, but we do not promise it will be available without interruption. Barz needs an internet connection to verify your access. The Windows installer is currently unsigned, so Windows may show a SmartScreen warning the first time you run it. We improve Barz continuously and may add, change or retire features; we will not make a change that materially removes what you have already paid for without telling you first and offering you a refund of the unused part. Support is by email at welcome@barz.cc.
10. Suspending or ending your account
We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms, if you use Barz unlawfully, or if we detect fraud or repeated abuse of free trials. Where we can, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we end your membership and you have not broken these terms, we refund the unused part of what you paid. You may close your account at any time by emailing us.
11. Our responsibility to you
We do not exclude or limit our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. Barz is a tool used alongside FL Studio: keep your own backups of your projects and recordings, because we are not responsible for lost work, lost recordings or lost profit. Where we are liable, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.
12. Your legal rights
If you are a consumer in the UK, the Consumer Rights Act 2015 says that digital content must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. If Barz is faulty or not as described, you are entitled to a repair or replacement and, if that is not possible or does not fix it, to a price reduction or a refund. Those rights are in addition to the 14-day right to change your mind. Free advice is available from Citizens Advice.
13. Privacy
How we handle your personal information, what we store and how to exercise your data rights is set out in our privacy notice.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects you and you have an account, we will email you at least 14 days before it takes effect. If you do not accept the change you may cancel, and we will refund the unused part of anything you have prepaid. The date at the top of this page always shows the current version.
15. Complaints, law and courts
If something goes wrong, email welcome@barz.cc and we will reply within five working days. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you are a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, you may bring proceedings in your own country’s courts, and you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.
